Calgary is full of great moms; cherished women who commit to career and the care of their families. This weekend, it’s time to once again celebrate their devotion.
Sharron Stevens is dubbed “superwoman” by her family, going above and beyond for her 15-year-old son, who has epilepsy and ADHD.
When she became a mom, she was immediately committed to the task, noting the best part of being a mom is the unconditional love.
“I was surprised at how easily you devote your life to raising another. He becomes your main focus,” Stevens said.
Stephanie Laroche, 26, is a single mom of two boys, three and five, but also spends her free time babysitting another three children ranging from 16 months to five years old, and relies on her own mother for a lot of help.
“We’re really close and we actually spend a lot of time together,” Laroche said.
While being supermom to so many kids can be overwhelming, Laroche said celebrating Mother’s Day is a nice way to relax with the family.
“On Saturday night we have dinner and Sunday morning we have brunch and we all really look forward to it.”
Stevens embraces the lifelong rewards of raising children — and recognizes its challenges.
“Teaching (my son) the responsibilities of becoming a caring adult takes a lot of patience, and I always remember its part of my job and I vow not to fail at it.”
