Celebrities line up to take shots at The Hoff

He’s been the butt of a lot of jokes, but this time David Hasselhoff is getting in on the action.

The former Knight Rider and Baywatch star put himself in the hot seat for an old-fashioned roast by the good folks at Comedy Central, and Metro was there for every obscenity-filled cheeseburger reference. But the Hoff wasn’t fazed.

“Honest to God, I wasn’t acting at all. I couldn’t stop laughing. My face hurts,” Hasselhoff told Metro backstage after the taping. “After every one of the guys would come off, they’d say, ‘You know I love you.’ And it was really, really cool.”

Hasselhoff went into the event with an open mind and a healthy amount of self-awareness.
The festivities were led by roast-master, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who opened with the question, “How do you make jokes about a joke? How do you put someone down when they are already lying shirtless on the floor?” The roast also included Hulk Hogan, Jerry Springer and Pamela Anderson, among others.

Another popular target was Hasselhoff’s continued popularity in Germany, something he’s less apt to poke fun at. “I don’t care what people say, I really don’t. I go over to Germany, and I’ve never had more fun in my life than being a rock star and singing. I sang on the Berlin Wall to a million people, and the song was called Looking for Freedom, and I’ll never, ever forget it.”

The roast of David Hasselhoff airs this Saturday night on the Comedy Network.
