Daniel Dae Kim, left, and Kari Matchett

The stars were out in force at Cin Cin Ristorante & Bar last week. Daniel Dae Kim, otherwise known as “Jin” on the hit ABC series Lost, dined on a three-course meal on the terrace. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan-born actress Kari Matchett, most recently seen in season six of 24 and her starring role in ABC’s short-lived skein, Invasion, also dined on the terrace on a separate evening. Matchett currently stars as Kate Armstrong in the TNT series Heartland, which also stars Treat Williams and shoots in Calgary.

Later in the week actor Bruce McGill (Cinderella Man, Collateral) stopped by Cin Cin for dinner at the bar, while Tim Matheson (The West Wing) dined with producer David Eick (Bionic Woman, Battlestar Galactica), and both Hilary and Haylie Duff enjoyed supper with family and friends.

‘Strain’ observed around Vancouver:
The Andromeda Strain miniseries, about which we’ve reported numerous times over the past few weeks, is being spotted around town these days. Late last week the production was filming just west of the Flying Beaver restaurant on Sea Island, in a building adjacent to the South Terminal, where keen-eyed locals observed bio medical trucks of the Utah National Guard and an unmanned military drone ready for some fictional action.

The Changeling returns: Finally, director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) has signed on as a producer for the Rogue Pictures re-make of The Changeling, based upon the 1980 feature film that made extensive use of locations in both Vancouver and Victoria and helped put B.C. on the map as a shooting destination. Starring the late George C. Scott (Patton), the original film focused on a man who finds his life being haunted by the presence of a spectre while staying at a secluded historical mansion.

Word is that Canadian scribe Paul Haggis, the first person in the history of the Academy Awards to write two back-to-back Best Picture winners, Crash and the previous year’s winner, Million Dollar Baby, may be co-penning The Changeling script with Dave Kajganich (The Invasion).
