Celebs put spin on cheap chic

h&m photos

A look at some of the items from Roberto Cavalli’s line for H&M, which hits stores today.

new collections

This week marks the arrival of two intriguing fashion launches aimed at those who like cheap chic with a celebrity spin: the Kate Moss for Topshop Collection arrived at Holt Renfrew (Bloor Street and Yorkdale locations only) on Tuesday evening, and today, Roberto Cavalli unleashes his flashy yet accessibly-priced goodies today at H&M. Topshop is one of the U.K.’s leading budget retailers. Expect lots of vintage-inspired shimmer and trend-driven looks from Moss’ camp (best suited for the slim), while Cavalli goes several steps further with extreme 1980s glam. Think copious animal prints, sequins and metallics. Preview the collections at www.katemossfortopshop.comand www.hm.com.

brow taming

While a fuller brow is what’s on the fashion pulse these days, the unibrow look is best avoided. Well-groomed brows can be transformatively flattering. Seeking out the help of a professional is advised. In Toronto two solid options are The Brow Bar in Leslieville (416-804-9716, www.thebrowhouse.com) and Rosedale’s Gee Beauty — ask for Natalie ($15 for tweezing or threading) — at 416-486-0080 or www.geebeauty.com.
