Mobile phone users in the Vancouver area are increasingly unhappy with their cellular service.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of the Lower Mainland has received 350 complaints against telecommuncation companies this year — more than any other industry.

Astor Stephens, 26, from Vancouver, said she wishes she could get a smartphone, but feels trapped by her current contract.

“I don’t want to buy out this phone,” she said, waving her flip-phone, “just to buy a new, more expensive one.”

Kevin Hollett, spokesman for the BBB, said people have the right to the best deal, it just takes research.

He recommends people do their pre-purchase homework before choosing a new provider or product.
