Cemetery shot up with rifle

A cemetery in Middle Sackville was a shooting gallery Wednesday night as the main building and items inside were fired at repeatedly.

Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae says it’s believed a .22-calibre rifle was the weapon used in the shooting at Oakridge Memory Gardens Cemetery on Old Sackville Road.

“They were just out there taking target practice,” he said. “They targeted the windows. They targeted the building, fire extinguishers, coffee cans — all kinds of things, for whatever reason.”

There have been no arrests and police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
