A Vancouver-area Wal-Mart pulled some boxes of cereal from shelves after a New Westminster couple found capsules containing “an off-white” substance in their breakfast bowl.

Preliminary tests by the RCMP showed the substance appears not to be harmful.

The box of Fibre 1 Raisin Bran Clusters appeared to be sealed, and according to the man who discovered the capsules, it wasn’t until he was eating a bowl of the cereal that he discovered them.

“He immediately got rid of the bowl of cereal,” said Sgt. Jane Baptista in a release. “He then checked out the rest of the box and saw that there were more capsules inside.”

The manufacturer and Health Canada were notified and Burnaby RCMP are investigating.
