THURSDAY, AUG. 10:
B.C. at Winnipeg
ODDSMAKERS' LINE:B.C. is favoured by3.5 points.
MARTY SAYS: This would have been a terrific matchup, but Bombers quarterback Kevin Glenn (knee) will miss the game and may be out for as much as a month. Bombers receiver Milt Stegall also will be out with cracked ribs. B.C. quarterback Dave Dickenson, meanwhile, sprained his ankle last week, but I'm told he'll start tonight. Even if he doesn't, Buck Pierce has established himself as a capable second-stringer.
MARTY'S PICK: TAKEB.C. MINUS THE 3.5 POINTS.
FRIDAY, AUG. 11:
Saskatchewan at Edmonton
ODDSMAKERS' LINE: Edmonton is favoured by 3.5 points
MARTY SAYS: The Roughriders are inconsistent but the Eskimos are downright lousy. The champs have become chumps.
MARTY'S PICK: TAKESASKATCHEWAN PLUS THE 3.5POINTS.
SATURDAY, AUG. 12:
Toronto at Hamilton
ODDSMAKERS' LINE:Hamilton is favoured by 3.5 points.
MARTY SAYS: This has been a turbulent week for the Argonauts, with the firings of offensive co-ordinator Kent Austin and receiver Robert Baker. Hamilton, meanwhile, is coming off a respectable win against the Blue Bombers, in Winnipeg. Still, I don't think the Ticats deserve favourite status just yet. This game should be one of those boring, defensive battles that'll come down to a last-second field goal, meaning you have to take the underdog and the points.
MARTY'S PICK: TAKETORONT0 PLUS THE 3.5POINTS.
SATURDAY, AUG. 12:
ODDSMAKERS' LINE:Montreal is favoured by3.5 points.
MARTY SAYS: Okay, this is where the bubble bursts for the Alouettes. How they've managed to start off at 7-0, I don't know. Their passing game is so-so. They get beaten a lot on defence. If the Stampeders are for real, and I think they are, this is where they must prove it, and, on their home field, I suspect they will.
MARTY'S PICK: TAKECALGARY PLUS THE 3.5 POINTS.
RESULTS OF WEEK 8:
Montreal 31, Toronto 7
Hamilton26, Winnipeg 11
B.C. 34,Edmonton 17
