Although Texas-born Ben Kweller has dabbled in country twang before, this is the rocker’s first genuine foray into the world of Americana. And, luckily, he succeeds with flying colours. With pedal steel galore, rich, soothing harmonies and a host of infectious singalong tunes, this might be the guitar slinger’s best record. If Kweller’s smart, this musical change will be his last.
