A 36-year-old man was in police custody last night after allegedly stealing a laptop from the Marriott Hotel in Halifax and then pulling a razor on two good Samaritans who tried to stop him.

Police say they responded to the hotel on Grafton Street just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon and found the suspect being restrained by two hotel employees. Witnesses told police that the man had taken a laptop from a meeting room inside the building, but that the employees had managed to chase him down.

There were no injuries.

The man was held overnight and is expected to appear in court this morning to face robbery charges.
