Non-criminal charges have been laid in the case of a Calgary woman who allegedly backed over and killed a pedestrian in a northwest neighbourhood.

On July 20, David Lee, 68, was walking to get his mail in Hawkwood when he was struck by a vehicle and pinned underneath.

The driver, identified by media reports as 60-year-old Gwenne Bell, is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14 and may be facing a fine of $2,000. Bell has been charged with backing when unsafe.

Lee is reported to have been married with three children and five grandchildren.
