Chestermere man charged with animal abuse

Strathmore RCMP have arrested a man accused of animal abuse just east of Calgary.

RCMP said they received a call regarding the abuse on an acreage in the MD of Rockyview and, after an investigation, they charged 27-year-old Tom Bilski of nearby Chestermere.

The charges are in relation to the suspect’s alleged use of an all-terrain quad against two dogs that are believed to belong to the accused.

Police said the two mixed-breed dogs have received medical attention and are in the care of the local animal shelter.

The accused has been released on the condition he does not have contact with, or be in possession of, any animals, police said.

Bilski is expected to appear in Strathmore provincial court May 5.
