An article that appeared in Metro on the bachelor of child development program (Jan. 13) being offered by Seneca College may mislead members of the public or potential students into believing that graduates of the program are eligible to teach in Ontario schools.
Teachers in publicly funded schools in Ontario must be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. One of the requirements for certification is the successful completion of a bachelor of education. The bachelor of child development does not qualify as a teacher education program.
