Police in Chilliwack announced Thursday that charges have been formally laid against a 14-year-old girl who is alleged to have been actively involved in recruiting other young teens into the sex trade.
The youth, who has previously solicited her own sexual services through the “erotic services” section of Craigslist, was arrested on Nov. 5, along with one of her alleged clients, David Thomas Hilpert, 51. Both are facing December court dates.
Police believe at least two other teens have been recruited into prostitution by the alleged pimp, whose name cannot be made public due to her young age.
Under-age pimping has been described as a disturbing trend in North America, as former teen prostitutes shift to exploiting their peers as a way to generate income.
