With airport security constantly finding new ways to ensure passenger safety, it would be silly to imagine someone trying to smuggle their pet turtle onto a plane hidden in a Kentucky Fried Chicken hamburger.
But the good news is, you don’t need to imagine that ridiculous scenario because, yes — this actually happened.
First reported by chinese paper,Guangzhou Dailyand later reported by UPI.com, a Chinese man with the surname of Li, actually tried to smuggle his "turtle burger" on board flight 345 to Beijing at China Southern Airlines on July 29.
Stopped during x-ray screening, security reported seeing “odd protrusions” from the burger that looked a lot like turtle limbs.
Imagine how surprised they were to find out they were right!
“There’s no turtle in there, just a hamburger,” Li allegedly told the authorities. “There’s nothing special to see inside.”
But there was something special inside — quite special, indeed.
After airport security had uncovered the pet turtle, Li explained that he just wanted to travel with his “beloved” turtle, but ultimately decided to leave it with a friend while he traveled.
On a separate note, when did KFC start serving hamburgers?
