Citizens, leaders set to mingle at GovCamp ‘unconference’

Hundreds of people with ideas about how key players from the government, industries and citizens can interact are expected to attend the first-ever Canada GovCamp at the University of Ottawa today.

Normally, it’s a challenge for regular people to communicate with the people who deliver the services, said GovCamp organizer John Weigelt. The “unconference” will bring together members of the community including IT people, policy people, and government services leaders.

Participants establish the agenda on the floor and explore themes that are of most interest to them.

“The event is about bringing people together,” said Weigelt. “It looks at new ways individuals, and businesses can interact with the government and ways that the government can work amongst themselves.”
