City calls on volunteers for spring cleaning

It’s time for spring cleaning again, and the City of Ottawa is no exception.

For the 16th year in a row, the city will be hosting the annual Cleaning the Capital campaign.

“The program involves litter pickup and graffiti removal,” said Leslie Vanclief, program manager for the campaign.

Volunteers can register at the City of Ottawa’s website to receive free cleaning supplies such as rubber gloves, garbage bags, and graffiti removal supplies.

“In 2008, we had 68,000 volunteers for both the fall and spring campaigns,” said Vanclief.

Last year, the campaign removed 116,000 bags of garbage from more than 12,000 different projects across the city.
