City eyes electric car initiative

Toronto is joining a small group of North American cities that want to speed up the introduction of electric cars on their streets and high­ways. Project Get Ready was launched in February by the Rocky Mountain Institute, a Colorado-based think-tank.

“Toronto will be signing up,” said Ben Marans, man­ager of special proj­ects at the city’s Toronto Atmospheric Fund. The initiative aims to have at least 20 participating cities.
