City man facing child-porn charges

After a four-month investigation, a Calgary man is facing numerous charges of child pornography and child exploitation against two young victims, according to the provincial solicitor general.

The ALERT Integrated Child Exploitation Unit received information in September that a man was in possession of child pornography. The suspect was initially charged in November.

Upon further investigation, two non-family child victims were identified and more charges were laid as a result, officials said.

“Keeping Alberta’s children safe from those who would prey on them is a vital function of ALERT, and it is a role they continue to excel in,” Solicitor General Frank Oberle said.

“ALERT’s integrated policing model is proving to be very effective at getting drugs, gangs and predators off Alberta streets and keeping Alberta communities safe and secure.”

Bradley Shawn Lemire, 46, of Calgary is charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography, sexual assault, sexual interference and voyeurism. He is in custody pending his next court appearance on Tuesday.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact Det. Justin Brookes at 403-206-5719.
