Calgary Crime Stoppers has garnered recognition at the organization’s international conference in Australia.

Three awards were given to the local association in the 750,000 to two million population category — two in productivity and one in television production. The program was awarded the prize for Greatest Increase in Total Property Recovered and another for the Greatest Increase in Arrests.

For production, they took home the Best Television Public Service Announcement for their spots on ShawTV.

Roger Monette, president of Calgary Crime Stoppers, said partnerships with the community, the police and local media have helped them earn the honours.

“Anonymous tips from the community are one of the most vital sources of information to assist police in solving crimes,” said Monette.

“It’s gratifying to see the rise in the number of tips to Crime Stoppers this past year.”
