City schools take 14 top 20 spots: Report

Calgary’s schools received top grades this year faring better than their Edmonton counterparts as the Fraser Institute released its annual report card on Alberta’s schools.

Fraser Institute director Peter Cowley said Calgary schools took 14 out of the 20 top spots in the report card that compares academic performances of schools across the province.

“Calgary is doing great and has continued the trend of having a lot of the top schools in the province.,” Cowley said yesterday.

Of the top 14 schools in Calgary, only five were private and the rest were separate and public, Cowley pointed out.

“The report card is the only easily accessible, objective tool that helps parents assess the performance of their child’s school.”

New this year, the Fraser Institute report card can be found online, making it easy to compare the 642 schools across the province. For more information visit www.compareschoolrankings.com.
