The future of The Khyber is up in the air and Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for public input on where it should go next.
The historic building at 1588 Barrington, known as The Khyber Building, has in recent years served as a showcase for local artistic talent. But the building needs to undergo renovations estimated at $626,000 to meet the National Building Code

At issue is what comes afterwards for both the building and the Khyber Arts Society that runs it
There are five main options being considered, ranging from the Khyber Arts Society owning and operating the building to leasing it from the city to moving elsewhere altogether.
A report on the options was prepared by the consulting firm TCI Management and is available online at www.halifax/ca/crca/feasibilityreport.html.
Consultants are asking the public to review the report and give feedback on the different options. There will be a public information session Dec. 9 at the Bloomfield Centre from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
A public survey will run from Dec. 9 to Jan. 8, 2010.
