City warns drivers to be ready for snow

The City of Calgary urged motorists to be ready for winter driving conditions Saturday night.

Dropping temperatures and scattered showers followed by up to 10 centimetres of snow were expected overnight.

The city planned to have nearly 50 sanders and 9 loaders out in full force through the night and into the morning.

Environment Canada’s forecast said there was a 60 percent chance of rain early Saturday evening with snow at times heavy
beginning later.

Snowfall amounts were to be 10 to 15 cm. Blowing snow
was predicted to result in poor visibility.

The snow should end Sunday at noon, with a 40 percent chance of more in evening.
