Striking Toronto workers were fuming after seeing Mayor David Miller slip into City Hall through a special “picket free” side entrance reserved for children attending a daycare centre in the building.
“It probably says two things about him. David Miller is a coward. He doesn’t want to face the employees he has put on the street,” said CUPE spokesperson Charlotte Monardo.
Miller spokesperson Stuart Green acknowledged the mayor used that entrance.
“No one told us about (the protocol). I came in through the side door today myself,” Green said, defending the mayor’s decision to use it.
“He’s got to come to work. We’ll get in the building whichever way is best for us.”
