Ending a half-decade political hiatus, former deputy premier and one-time mayoral candidate Christy Clark is expected to announce her candidacy for the leadership of the B.C. Liberal Party this morning.

The former Coquitlam MLA and current CKNW personality remained coy about her political ambitions following Premier Gordon Campbell’s November resignation, but is now anticipated to formally declare herself interested in seeking her old boss’ job.

While a self-described political moderate, Clark is seen as being a leading voice for the Liberal party’s more left-leaning wing.
