Classroom will go wild, if they get the votes

Parents in Tantallon want your vote.

They’re in a contest to win funding for a Nature Room, an outdoor classroom for the Tantallon elementary school.

“As part of an education we want to make sure (students) learn about the world around them and how they can contribute to keeping it this way,” said dad Mike Crawford.

The Nature Room will feature houses for butterflies, birds and bats, a composting station, a greenhouse heated with solar panels, a water collection system to provide the school with water, and an outdoor classroom.

“We can have outdoor Friday night concerts and drama productions,” said mom Melissa Velden.

It’s a $110,000 project so they entered their idea into the Aviva Community Fund competition.

The deadline for online votes for the next step of the competition is Friday at 1 p.m.

They’ll have to go through another round of voting in December and the winners will be announced on Jan. 25.
