Charities across Canada, including two from Halifax, are now asking people to donate with their mouse, and not just with their wallet.

The Kiari Foundation is hosting a national contest that will award three prizes of up to $20,000 to the three charities that receive the most online votes.

Every day until Dec. 31, Canadians can vote for their favourite non-profit organization at www.winavote.com.

As of yesterday afternoon, two of the 18 candidates are Halifax-based: Parker Street Food & Furniture Bank feeds over 250 families a week, while Adsum House is a refuge for women at risk of homelessness.
