fab fabric swap

Sew Be It is hosting a fabric swap on Sat., Oct. 13, in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Admission is $7, and $5 of that will benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Society. Participants are expected to arrive anytime after 6:30 p.m. with the fabric they’re willing to purge. All contributions will be divided into categories at the studio for a quick preview of the goodies before the chaos begins at 7 p.m. This is a great way to unload fabrics and sewing notions you know you’ll never use with the incentive of a fresh stash of inspiring new materials. Trade trash for treasure for a good cause, while mingling with fellow creatives over tea and treats.

Where: Sew Be It Studios, 2156 Yonge St. just south of Eglinton.

Info: To take part, make sure to RSVP via 416-481-7784 or info@sewbeitstudio.com.

sweet charity

If firemen make you randy, you may want to consider taking an extra-long lunch today so you can scoot to the Bay’s Queen Street location, where the beefy boys from the 2008 Fireman’s Calendar will be signing calendars ($16 each) and posing for photos from noon to 3 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Fire Fighters’ Cancer Research Fund at Princess Margaret Hospital, if you need to justify your presence there.
