Coldplay says it will make the first single from its new album available for a free download to fans who visit the English band's website.
The single "Violet Hill" will be available on www.coldplay.com Tuesday, one week before it goes on sale.
The website will also give preliminary details about free shows at London's Brixton Academy on June 16 and at New York's Madison Square Garden on June 23.
The band also announced on Monday that the U.K. release of its new album - "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends" - has been moved up four days to June 12. That is the same day the album will be released in much of the world.
