College may hold the answer to your future

So you chose a direction and started to plan. You sent in your application and waited for that thick envelope to arrive congratulating you on your acceptance and telling you about the exciting year ahead. But the envelope that arrived was thin, and inside it was the end of your best-laid plan.

So maybe your first choice for your education and career path didn’t pan out. While you might be discouraged, a change in plans doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the line. In fact, now might be the perfect time to explore what other options are available and may even be better fit for you.

One way to discover what’s out there is to attend an open house at your local college. It gives you an opportunity to meet faculty and students, tour the campuses and learn more about the programs offered.

If you’re interested in business and travel, consider looking into an international business program. If environmental issues grab your attention, take a look at an environmental site remediation program. If working with machinery sounds intriguing, a mechanical engineering technician or a control systems technology program might be worth investigating.

Seneca College will hold its annual spring open house on Sat., April 5 from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“A lot of potential students have only seen the college online. The opportunity to see the state-of-the-art facilities, talk to staff and students, and see life on campus is another experience altogether,” says Barry Naymark of Seneca.

Remember, there are multiple paths that you can take to ultimately achieve your goals. For more information about Seneca College’s open house, visit yourfuture.senecacollege.ca.
