Comedians Godfrey, who achieved near-cult status playing himself in the film Zoolander, and Australian-raised Akmal Saleh are among the comics taking part in tonight’s Just for Laugh’s Ethnic Comedy Show at the Winter Garden Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
The two took to ask each other a few questions for Metro Canada.
Godfrey interviews Akmal:
Godfrey: Do you steal other people’s material?
Akmal: What has been implied here?
What do you think about prop comedy?
It depends if they are funny or not. I love The Amazing Johnathan.
Who was your comic inspiration?
How do you handle a heckler?
With great comeback lines like “Stop it! You’re ruining it for everybody!”
How do you feel about Michael Richards’ outburst (In 2006, Richards used a racial slur six times during a comedy show that was recorded on a cell phone camera and circulated on the internet)?
What a great career move.
Akmal interviews Godfrey:
Akmal: Are you circumcised?
I can see you have done well in your career, much better than me, can you please send me $1,000 to help my career?
Sorry — I’m Nigerian so I already know that trick.
What’s your favorite old school joke?
Anything that starts with “a guy walks into a bar…” will make me laugh.
Have you seen my cell phone — I have lost it again.
Yeah I have it and I just called home to Nigeria during peak hours. Thanks!
How many light bulbs does it take to change a comedian?
(Godfrey failed to see the humour here and responded with an actual “boooooooo!”)
