Thanks to Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank and its supporters, over 200 families will be sending their kids to school with new supplies.

The food bank put out a call to the community to donate supplies and clothing for families that can’t afford back-to-school costs last week. According to Parker Street executive director Mel Boutilier, the call was heard. He said children should not be put in the position of not having what they need for their education. Each package for a student ranges between $50 to $60 in required supplies.

“I don’t think a child should go to school and be embarrassed by not having proper school supplies and clothing,” he said.
