Concern arises over lack of parking in Lansdowne plan

Citing concern over the number of parking spaces proposed in the Lansdowne Partnership plan, Bay Ward Coun. Alex Cullen has called a special joint transit/transportation committee meeting for Oct. 8.

Cullen said a facility that includes a 26,000-seat stadium, an 8,000-seat arena and a shopping centre with a 1,100-seat cinema requires over 10,000 parking spaces, but will only have access to 1,385. “And there is the matter of a sports stadium this size and a shopping centre this size — each requiring access to rapid transit … but clearly lacking such access.”

Orleans Coun. Bob Monette is urging residents to come out to one of the six public consultations held between Sept. 28 and Oct. 6 across the city to make their voices heard.
