Citing concern over the number of parking spaces proposed in the Lansdowne Partnership plan, Bay Ward Coun. Alex Cullen has called a special joint transit/transportation committee meeting for Oct. 8.

Cullen said a facility that includes a 26,000-seat stadium, an 8,000-seat arena and a shopping centre with a 1,100-seat cinema requires over 10,000 parking spaces, but will only have access to 1,385. “And there is the matter of a sports stadium this size and a shopping centre this size — each requiring access to rapid transit ... but clearly lacking such access.”

Orleans Coun. Bob Monette is urging residents to come out to one of the six public consultations held between Sept. 28 and Oct. 6 across the city to make their voices heard.
