Cartoon images of bulls, cowboys and all things Stampede are making their way onto Calgary windows, sending business skyrocketing for one Calgary window painter.
After painting windows for around 10 years, Valerie Nimchuk of No Limit Artistic Design said she couldn’t sustain her business without Stampede season.
“I can pretty well draw anything so I thought ‘Why not do all these cool Stampede images?’ I get to colour and draw all day, it’s a pretty fun job.”
From the beginning of June right up until Stampede, Nimchuk said she and her daughter Riley, who helps her paint, are booked solid.
“My whole month is basically full,” she said.
“Sometimes I’ll do two or three businesses a day depending on how many windows they have to do.”
Nimchuk estimated that Stampede painting accounts for more than 50 per cent of her total business.
