Coors Light billboards pulled

Billboard ads for Coors Light that claim the beer is Colder Than Most People From Toronto are coming down.

Billboard ads for Coors Light that claim the beer is Colder Than Most People From Toronto are coming down.

The company took some heat from offended Torontonians who say the billboards, used only in Western Canada, went too far.

Adam Moffat, brand marketing manager for Coors Light, said the ads, which also contain the Vancouver 2010 Games logo because the company is an Olympic sponsor, would start coming down.

Initially, Moffat said the company did not plan to change the billboards but after about 30-40 complaints yesterday, Coors Light decided to pull the ads early.

They were scheduled to be up until September but will be removed within a week.

The slogan was one of four on Coors Light billboards in B.C. The others were Colder Than a Souvenir Guy in March 2010, It’s the Venti of Ice Cold Beer and Colder Than a Certain Unemployed Ranger.

Moffat said the Colder Than Most People in Toronto billboard will be replaced by one of the three other slogans.
