A Philadelphia Police officer shot and killed a dog in South Philadelphia Wednesday morning, police said.

A Philadelphia Police officer shot and killed a dog in South Philadelphia Wednesday morning, police said.

The officer, whose name has not been released, arrived at the 1400 block of Montrose Street just before 7 a.m. for a call of an aggressive pit bull on the loose.

The officer shot the dog, which was pronounced dead on the scene.

No other injuries were announced.
