Personal items may hold clues to possible murder

Police hope finding a deceased woman’s missing shoe and purse will help lead them to a potential killer.

While police won’t confirm a dead woman found on Friday in the city’s southeast was indeed murdered, all clues point that way when she was found bloodied by the Franklin LRT station.

Duty Inspector Kevan Stuart told Metro police are looking for the woman’s brown ankle boot and her brown shoulder purse.

“We’re looking for two items that belong to her. The purse would have some personal items in it.

“We want the public to be aware and keep an eye out because we haven’t been able to locate these things yet,” Stuart said.

Stuart also said police and search-and-rescue crews were investigating the area surrounding Memorial Drive behind the Grace Baptist Church where she was found, but are facing challenges with the recent heavy snowfall.

While police won’t confirm the woman’s identity, it is suspected the remains are those of Arcelie Laoagan, who was reported missing after she didn’t return home from work Thursday night.

Laoagan worked at the West Canadian located at 901 10 Ave S.W and was last seen when she left around 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Homicide Staff Sgt. Kevin Forsen is urging anyone with information to come forward was soon as possible.

“Co-operation from the public is critical in moving this investigation forward,” Forsen said.
