Toronto police are looking for a 50-year-old woman who woke the residents of a Bathurst Street apartment early Saturday morning, saving the residents as a three-alarm blaze destroyed the building.

According to police, all occupants made it safely out of the building as a result of Marie Speck’s actions.

The first to notice the fire, Speck reportedly knocked on the other residents’ doors to alert them to the danger.

Witnesses say the fire started in a second-storey apartment and quickly spread to the rest of the building, including a daycare centre on the first floor.

Police would like to thank Speck for what she did, but they can’t find her.
