Police believe the same man is responsible for a string of pharmacy robberies and say the suspected serial robber demands OxyContin pills each time.

Acting Staff Sgt. Doug Crippen said police are concerned with the frequency of the eight robberies between Aug. 14 and Aug. 27 at pharmacies in the city’s northeast and northwest.

“This is an anomaly, to have that many robberies over that short of time and that is what concerns us,” Crippen said, adding the man just demands the pharmacist to hand over the pills.

“He has not used violence yet, but we want to apprehend him before it escalates.”

Crippen doesn’t know the total amount of the painkillers stolen, but said the amount is “significant” enough that police believe he intends to distribute the heroin-like drug on the street for profit.

Police are looking for information about the suspect they describe as Caucasian, early to mid-20s, with light brown hair and approximately six feet tall and 175 pounds.
