Cops seize drugs, guns and SUV in Hubbards

Police say 34-year-old man was running grow op

Mounties from Halifax helped their south shore colleagues bust a marijuana grow-op Tuesday morning in Hubbards.

Nova Scotia Power also helped police with the investigation, since the 34-year-old man is accused of stealing electricity, among other charges.

He’ll appear in Chester provincial court at a later date on counts of cultivation, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of firearms and possession of a stolen vehicle, Halifax RCMP said in a news release.

Police officers seized 300 grams of marijuana bud, 221 marijuana plants, along with “scales and extensive grow equipment” during the search at 10:20 a.m. on Fox Point Road, the release said, adding they also found six long rifles and ammunition during the search.

The suspect also had a stolen Nissan Pathfinder SUV, police said.
