Cops urged to probe spending

The former chair of the Toronto Catholic board has appealed to police to look into unscrupulous spending by trustees — a move Education Minister Kathleen Wynne says is unnecessary.

Oliver Carroll, a current trustee who headed the board during much of the time when spending has come under scrutiny, delivered a letter to police Chief Bill Blair yesterday saying a report issued last week drew “attention to issues such as the multiple claiming of certain expenses and the awarding of contracts to numbered companies and relatives.

I am requesting that the Toronto Police Services look into the matters raised” by provincial adviser Norbert Hartmann.
