Transit riders who use park and ride lots may be getting a break on fees.
City Council passed a motion yesterday to commission a report to look into offering a discount when a monthly transit pass and parking pass are purchased.
“There is a problem with what was intended and it’s not fully been implemented,” said Ald. Bob Hawkesworth. “Hopefully we can find a way to fix it.”
Hawkesworth proposed the motion to help deal with people parking in surrounding areas and empty lots. It also means that council will have to find other ways to fund extra transit hours, surveillance and security.
The $3 park and ride fee has been in place in all lots since the end of May.
