A retired flight attendant who contracted HIV after having repeated unprotected sex with a man she met in her apartment building says he lied about his health.

William Imona-Russel later siphoned $9,000 from her bank account and raped her twice, once threatening to kill her with a power drill, said the woman, 58, who cannot be identified.

“I was terrified ... for my life,” the woman testified yesterday on closed-circuit television to avoid seeing her former boyfriend in the courtroom next door.

She is not being named for her safety.

Within a month, they started having sex and she said she never saw him use a condom. She told prosecutor Julia Forward that she asked him if he had any kind of disease. “He said no, he’s healthy.”

Imona-Russel, 35, has pleaded not guilty to charges that include aggravated sexual assault to endanger life, assault and threatening death.
