Vancouverites witnessed more Elegy action last Wednesday night, as the film about the complex relationship between a teacher (Ben Kingsley) and his student (Penelope Cruz) shot evening crowd scenes in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. Lots of New York City taxis and vehicles with NY plates were clearly visible. You may recall we reported last week that the production was shooting in Gastown, and by last Friday, the celebrity image website Flynet had already posted a pic of Kingsley and Cruz engaged in a pretty steamy lip-lock.

AND STILL MORE GASTOWN ACTION . .. Gastown is apparently the location du jour this month, as Hard Drive Films Inc. also filmed scenes for its low-budget Canadian feature Control Alt Delete in Vancouver’s historic neighborhood this past Monday. The scenes were shot at West Cordova and Homer Street, as well as in and around Annex Café and the Red Square Salon.

Edward James Olmos recently said Battlestar Galactica is coming to an end.

GALACTICA TO SOLDIER PAST FOUR SEASONS? Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica begins preproduction in Vancouver this month, and according to executive producer David Eick, the series is still an open-ended adventure and won’t necessarily end after the fourth season, as had been previously reported. Eick recently released a statement via the Sci Fi Channel refuting actor Edward James Olmos’ comments at this month’s Saturn Awards during which the actor remarked that the show would be ending. “For those of you who have been paying attention over the years, this is not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the possibility of the show’s end,” Eick said. “I promise you that when Ron and I make a decision about Galactica’s future, we’ll let you know.” Not exactly a denial, either, but Eick did confirm that the fourth season would, in fact, be 22 episodes (two more than prior seasons).
