Cumberland-South voters head to polls for provincial byelection

Voters will head to the polls today in Cumberland-South to fill the seat vacated by veteran Tory Murray Scott.

The byelection will determine more than just who represents Cumberland-South, however. It will also determine whether Progressive Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie will be debating from the floor of the legislature or from the gallery.

The riding has been characterized as a PC stronghold, having been held by the Tories since Scott’s first win in 1998.

But Baillie said yesterday he is not taking anything for granted.

“I’m working as hard as anyone, my team is working as hard as anyone,” he said.
