‘Devastating’ result for riders: TTC chair

Massive service cuts to rush hour and off-peak buses, shorter subway operating hours, hefty fare hikes and overcrowding so bad it would drive some riders right off public transit.

That’s the fallout being predicted by senior TTC officials if the city levels its cost-cutting axe at the transit system.

“If we’re asked to come to the table with cuts, it’s going to be devastating for Toronto transit riders,” warned TTC chair Adam Giambrone, who stressed that transit officials still don’t know if they’ll be ordered to cut their budget.
