Two assailants ran away empty-handed Monday night after assaulting a bicyclist in an attempted robbery on Bayers Road in the city's west end, police say.

Officers responded to the incident on the road's 6700 block after Halifax Regional Police received a complaint of an attempted robbery.

The suspects, described to police as black men between the ages of 18 and 24, allegedly pushed another man off his bike and demanded he hand over cash. The victim sustained minor injuries, which were treated in hospital, and the two suspects took off toward Romans Avenue, police say.
