Cyclists, drivers slapped with charges, tickets in cycling blitz

Police laid 346 cycling safety charges and issued 475 tickets to motorists for running red lights last month as a part of an initiative to increase cycling safety.

Police said Monday that in addition to enforcement, they handed out hundreds of information pamphlets on cycling safety at Ottawa’s higher-risk locations for vehicle-cyclist collisions. Police also handed out 500 bicycle bells to cyclists who did not have bells on their bikes.
