Danton arrives but won’t practise just yet

The Saint Mary’s Huskies are holding off until at least next week before putting Mike Danton on the ice.

Danton, a former NHLer who spent five years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder, has enrolled in three sociology courses at Saint Mary’s and arrived in town Thursday. But the Huskies want him to get comfortable off the ice before so much as letting him practise, a team source said.

The Huskies host the nationally-No. 1-ranked New Brunswick Varsity Reds on Friday and the P.E.I. Panthers on Saturday. Both games are at 7 p.m. at the Forum.

The 29-year-old Danton will be assessed next week.
