Death of two-month-old child ruled a homicide

Calgary police are now calling the August death of a two-month-old a homicide.

Bryson Dorey-Fox was brought to a Calgary hospital on Aug. 1 and died two days later. The homicide unit and child abuse unit were called in right away to investigate the death and an autopsy was conducted.

While police remain tight-lipped on details, they confirmed autopsy reports show Dorey-Fox’s death was the result of foul play, though they won’t release cause of death, according to homicide Staff Sgt. Rick Tuza.

“The child went to the hospital and due to the serious nature (authorities were called),” Tuza said. “The medical distress the child was in, urged a call to the police right away.”

Tuza wouldn’t say if police have narrowed down their investigation.
